Before you talk to your first potential customer you want to
have professionally-made business cards. This is a must. Without a business card you are going to look unprofessional to everyone
you speak with. Most printers can design a good business card for you at a very reasonable price.
The price typically
depends on the number of colors you use and your card stock choice. It is a good idea to keep your cards simple. Also, you
may want to shy away from the cheapest cards as well as the most expensive; somewhere in the middle. In our area you can get
500 business cards for as little as 25 dollars.
Shop around though and find your price. You may even want to do
a trade for business cards and a window cleaning service if you can; why not? In any event, order at least 500 cards and pass
out every one of them. Once you break the ice it gets easy.
Keep this in mind; having professionally-made business
cards is great, but if they never come out of the box they are worthless. Get in the habit of passing out business cards every
day. Get them into people’s hands and inform those people of who you are and what you do for a living.
Set
a goal for when you plan on passing out your last card from the box!
